The division of gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition has some of the nation’s top-ranked clinicians and researchers. Our faculty is committed to providing world-class patient care, while developing novel treatment options and advancing research in the field. UF Health Shands hepatologists in Gainesville offer treatment and evaluation for patients presenting across the spectrum of liver disease. There are specialty clinics for the management of hepatitis C, hepatitis B, liver transplant, hepatocellular carcinoma, portal hypertension, and fatty liver disease.

The UF liver team is multidisciplinary, with colleagues in surgery, oncology, radiology and other internal medicine specialties working together to provide patients with personalized care. The team performs leading-edge scientific research to improve prevention, detection, treatment, and outcomes of patients with liver disease and its complications.

Our GI Motility Program offers the latest technologies to treat and research disturbances in the digestive system as it relates to the movements and transits within it. We provide referring physicians with complete tests of motility and gastro-intestinal functioning.
